PADI RESCUE DIVER COURSE
Course Description
The PADI Rescue Diver course is designed to expand your diving skills by teaching you how to manage and prevent diving emergencies. It is often described as the most challenging yet rewarding course, as it builds your confidence and ability to handle stressful situations both above and underwater. This course is essential for divers who want to improve their safety skills and become better dive buddies.
What to Expect
Knowledge Development: Start with PADI Rescue Diver course manual and video theory, to understand the fundamentals of rescue diving. This includes emergency management, recognizing diver stress, and handling emergency situations. The eLearning portion typically takes 8-12 hours to complete.
Rescue Training Exercises: Practice handling various emergency scenarios in open water. These exercises include self-rescue, assisting tired and panicked divers, dealing with unresponsive divers, and managing equipment problems.
Open Water Rescue Scenarios: Engage in realistic rescue scenarios to apply the skills you’ve learned. These scenarios are designed to simulate real-life situations, helping you become a more capable and confident diver.
Requirements
Age: Must be at least 12 years old. Divers aged 12-14 will receive a Junior Rescue Diver certification.
Prerequisites: Must have a PADI Adventure Diver certification (or equivalent) with the Underwater Navigation dive completed, and Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training completed within the last 24 months.
Health: Participants should be in good health and fit for diving. A medical questionnaire must be completed, and a physician’s approval may be required.
Considerations
Duration: The course typically takes 4-7 days to complete, including eLearning or on side learning and in-water training.
Equipment: Basic scuba gear is provided, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, dive computer, and tank. Please bring personal items like swimwear, sunscreen, and a towel with you.
Certification: Upon successful completion, you will earn the PADI Rescue Diver certification, a prerequisite for many advanced courses, including PADI Divemaster.
