The PADI Open Water Diver Sri Lanka course is the world’s most recognized beginner scuba certification and your first step into the underwater world. With warm tropical water, excellent visibility and calm conditions, Sri Lanka offers the ideal environment for new divers to learn safely and confidently.
What You Learn in the PADI Open Water Diver Course
The course combines theory, confined water practice and real ocean dives to give you the skills needed for independent diving. You begin with the printed manual, where you study essential diving concepts at your own pace. The theory portion usually takes 5–10 hours and includes quizzes to help you understand buoyancy, equipment, pressure and underwater communication.
During confined water sessions, you practice scuba skills in the shallow water. This is where you take your first breaths underwater, learn how to set up your equipment, control your buoyancy and clear your mask safely. Each skill prepares you for the ocean dives.
The PADI Open Water Diver Sri Lanka course includes four open water dives at beautiful coastal sites. Under the supervision of a certified PADI Instructor, you’ll explore marine life, apply the skills you’ve learned and gain real underwater experience in tropical conditions.
Course Requirements
- Minimum age: 10 years
- Swimming ability: 200 m swim + 10 minutes floating
- Health: Fit for diving; medical questionnaire required
